Key Research. Key Research is an independent research organisation who undertakes the Customer Views survey for Councils across New Zealand.

The Annual Customer Views survey is undertaken four times per year in ‘waves’. 1,000 people are surveyed per wave, with a total of 4,000 Matamata-Piako residents randomly selected to participate in the survey per year.

After the fourth wave, the data from the whole year is collated and weighted to make sure the results reflect a representative sample of the district. Meaning, the report will make sure a proportional number of people in each ward, of each gender and of each age group are reflected in the final report.

If you live in the district and are over 18 then, you may be invited to participate.

*Council staff and those who live with Council staff are not eligible.

Electoral Roll extract. A sample of the Electoral Roll was obtained by Council for the purposes of conducting a survey. The extract was given to the Survey provider. All information is stored on a secure and confidential database. Information is not accessible to Council staff and elected members.

The most you would be contacted is annually.

You will be invited to participate in the survey no more than once a year. You will receive a physical mail invitation the first time. From there, if you select you are okay to be contacted via email in the future, you will receive a mail invitation to partake in the survey.

An invitation letter, containing an embedded link to an online survey with a QR code, is posted to a random selection of 4,000 residents sourced from the Electoral Roll. (1,000 per wave)

A paper survey questionnaire will be provided by Key Research to those who would prefer to complete the questionnaire using a hard copy. Residents would call the Key Research 0800 number to request this and a Freepost would be made available. Responses are data entered into our secure web-based platform for analysis.

After 10 days, a reminder letter containing the survey link is sent to those who have not yet responded.

There is one card per wave (four per year) up for grabs for those who participate in the survey. There are 1,000 people who receive invitations each wave (4,000 per year).
