Phase one:
Provincial Growth Fund (PGF) documents:
The information below summarises the three phases of work that will be required to develop a new day spa in Te Aroha. Throughout the project there are critical points where Council will decide if the project should progress. You can find more detail on the phases in the project plan under For More Information.
As the project progresses the plan will be reviewed and timeframes updated. The timeframes provided are subject to change.
Phase one – Investigation (mid 2021-late 2022)
The first step is to develop a comprehensive plan that will more accurately identify the timeframes and actions involved. During this phase the information in the business case and feasibility study will be tested, and opportunities and risks investigated. By the end of phase one a design brief will have been developed that will outline the nature, location, shape, size and scale of a new day spa and hot pools facility.
Phase two – Planning (late 2022-mid 2024)
Phase two will see concept designs developed and costed before talking further with the community about this exciting development. Investment options will be looked into and after considering all of the feedback a recommendation will be made to Council about whether the project should proceed to the next phase.
Phase three – Construction (late 2024-late 2026)
Phase three is when the detailed designs will be developed and this will allow us to apply for consents and tender for a company to carry out construction. At this stage we don’t know what impact COVID-19 could still be having on the availability of construction materials, but all going well we will start the build in 2025 and have the facility open in late 2026.
