What's been done so far?

The Lockerbie Water Treatment Plant (WTP) was officially opened on 9 September 2024, increasing water security for the Morrinsville community. Part of commissioning a new water treatment plant for us involves testing in phases.

What’s happening next?

Stage one involved bringing the new plant online and feeding treated water into the Morrinsville supply at a low flow rate. With the upgrade of the water main and pipework at the intersection of Coronation Road, Snell Street and Studholme Street, the time is now right for us to undertake stage two testing. This testing at higher flow rates will confirm the capability of Lockerbie WTP and allow us to make any further changes needed to ensure reliability of this water source for Morrinsville. We'll update you soon with dates for this testing.
