Council has set the following dog control fees for the 2024/2025 registration year.

• Full Registration Fee $157
• Replacement Tag $2.50

The approximately 30% increase in the fee from $120 to $157 reflects both Council’s desire to move more to user pays and the significant increase in costs for this activity – particularly overheads and legal, salaries, vet and sustenance costs.

The following rebates, where applicable, can be deducted from the registration fee:

• Responsible Owner’s Rebate $15
• De-sexed or working, or Dogs NZ Rebate $30
• No Complaints Rebate $35

Payment after 31 July 2024 will result in a 50% penalty fee. You may also be issued with a $300 infringement fine for keeping an unregistered dog.

Dog Impounding Fees

• First Impounding $61
• Second Impounding (per reg. year) $98
• Third and subsequent impounding (per reg. year)  $153
• Daily sustenance $15
• Microchipping $74

Stock Call Out Fees

• During Office Hours $153
• After Hours (per call out incl. of mileage) $215
• Impounding Fee (per head) $61
• Daily Sustenance (per head) $7
• All associated costs (i.e. transport, advertising) charged at actual cost

All the above fees are inclusive of 15% Goods and Services Tax.
