Meet Des from Men’s Shed. Des is the creative designer putting his skills to work on a unique piece of street furniture for a new social seating area coming soon to Matamata.

Pride of Place heard the community wants more vibrant and interesting spaces to enjoy in the CBD. So we are taking an underutilised area on Arawa Street and working with Matamata Community Men’s Shed to transform it into a little piece of Kiwi magic for locals and visitors to enjoy.

We’ll be back later this year to install the unique picnic table setting and brighten the area with fairy lights in the oak tree.
