Doggo in the District, an e-newsletter just for dog owners. In the latest edition, we discuss the proposed increase in animal control fees and charges for the 2024/25 year. Proposing that 80% - 100% of animal control costs should be recovered through user pays, rather than general rates. Consultation on Fees and Charges 2024/25 closed on Sunday 21 April.
Some fees that Council is proposing to increase for 2024/25 are:
- Full dog registration fee: $120 to $157
- Impounding: $50 to $61
- Microchipping: $60 to $74
- Stock call out (during office hours): $125 to $153
- Stock callout (after hours): $175 to $215

2024/25 registrations are heading your way in June. All dogs need their registration renewed by 31 July 2024.
