Te Aroha Boat Ramp
The area known as the Te Aroha Boat Ramp reserve (off Lawrence Ave/Terminus St, alongside the Coulter Bridge) is home to Te Aroha's motorhome dump station, a parking area, and a ramp for launching boats. The Te Aroha to Paeroa leg of the Hauraki Rail Trail also passes through the reserve.
An increase in motorhome and caravan tourism, plus the addition of the cycleway has put pressure on the existing infrastructure and Council has identified this area as requiring an upgrade, including:
- Expanding and improving the dump station facilities
- surfacing the carpark (currently gravel)
- realigning the Hauraki Rail Trail for safer movement through the reserve
This work is now underway. The construction was originally expected to take approximately five weeks (completed early September), however, wet weather/flooding in the area has caused a number of delays. The works are now expected to continue to late September/early October.
Access to the dump station is currently closed, please see here for alternative locations. The skate park, water fountain and footbridge are still be accessible to the public.
