GIS (Geographic Information System)
Geospatial Portal is a Web application for spatial data. Users can access the site using Web browsers. It is used to find, view, and query geospatial data and to integrate multiple sources into a single map view that can be easily navigated.
Geospatial Portal simplifies the process of finding, connecting to, and displaying spatial data. It ensures smooth browsing through intuitive navigation controls and technical advances such as asynchronous communication, which ensures that panning and zooming are not interrupted by having to wait for servers to respond. The client’s utility is enhanced by additional tools such as measuring area and distance, controlling the appearance of individual map layers, and saving and recalling the current map context. Geospatial Portal supports all the Web services and open standards that a modern SDI client requires.
The Portal provides aerial photography, address information, parcel and regional boundaries, roads, titles, legal descriptions, rivers, rail, state highways, Open Street Map, Google Street View, services (water, waste, storm), census data over time, development contributions, district plan data, land use, open space covenants, significant natural features, soil class, recreational items like bike tracks, walk tracks, parks, reserves and the like, vegetation, WRC drains and so much more.
Geospatial Portal can be run in several standard Internet Browsers, including Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. The table below summarizes the list of browser versions officially supported by this product. The Geospatial Portal can be run in other browsers, however it is not guaranteed that all functions will behave as expected.
