Both Provincial Growth Fund projects are being overseen by Project Governance Groups, made up of elected Councillors and independent experts, who were invited to be involved based on their experiences and expertise.

The Chair of the Waharoa Project Governance Group is Rukumoana Schaafhausen, of Ngāti Haua. Rukumoana is the managing director of Ngati Haua’s commercial entity and is also the Chairperson of Waikato Tainui’s executive board, Te Arataura.  She practiced law for a number of years and also holds several public and private directorship positions.The rest of the Project Governance Group includes:
