What do you think about our proposed limits for rates and debt?
Please bear in mind that in Matamata there are a very large number of ratepayers on strictly limited budgets with likely little change in future. Job losses will also continue + the general cost of living (food, fuel, medical dental costs etc) will definitely continue to increase.

In my opinion Council should concentrate on NEEDS not[underlined] Wants.

We would all like to have nice things - what we want, but this is an unrealistic expectation. Successful + well run companies always ensure their financial structures are in place first & only then is expenditure made on the 'nice' things . Council's first responsibiility is to provide a sound basic infrastructure including controlled, cautious + well balanced financial expediture, again, based on NEEDS[underlined] NOT [underlined] Wants[underlined].
