Liam Atkins, Matamata artist

The Arawa St NZ-inspired table and seats are painted in vibrant splatter designs resembling paua shells and ocean waves. The design was created by members of the community under the artistic direction of local artist Liam Atkins at the Starfish Colour Burst public event in November 2024. Liam put in more than 30 voluntary hours to test, trial and work out the best way to include as many community members as possible while still creating a beautiful, quality result. Thank you Liam!
