Full description of idea:
With vibrant growth in residential housing in Morrinsville I would float the idea of every new residence to have the necessity of installation of a minimum 5000litre water tank on the property as back up to the Council reticulated water supply.
The cost of such would be applied to the Developer in the first instance, and would be reflected in the sell price of any given section of land.
Further, Council could offer some incentive to existing residential properties post build, to likewise install such an amenity.
How this idea will benefit the community:
Future projecting, water is potentially the Gold of the area, as is well known Morrinsville struggles in water supply each and every summer, without fail.
To implement such as I propose, would ensure some inherent interest and responsibility for water usage from many existing residential properties and certainly from all new and proposed residential / commercial developments.
A move, implementation of such as I propose would promote Morrinsville and MPDC as forward thinking, environmentally aware, and progressive In future proofing it’s citizens Water, going forward.
Let’s consider this, it’s bold, it may initially be seen as dictatorial, but it is becoming blatantly necessary as our communities grow and become more desirable.
Lead the way, be courageous MPDC.
