Full description of idea:

The Morrinsville Pool is grossly under utilised by the community. It is open only a few short months of the year and when it is open, the hours are limited, shade is minimal and the water temperature is tepid at best. It isnt appealing to a wide range of people in the community and in many cases, they are the people who would benefit most frim the exercise. Let's use this space to make it more user friendly. Can a dome go over it for colder months? Can we add some features within the facility; trampolines perhaps? Excuses from past councils range from cost to utilising other pools in the district. By driving to Te Aroha, Matamata or Hamilton, the cost adds up rapidly and isn't sustainable if you want to swim frequently. People doing lessons are disadvantaged with the long winter break as well.

How this idea will benefit the community:

Swimming is known to be a wonderful way to exercise, ease stress, and keep active with our families. Lessons can be available year round with the possibility of training for competitive swimmers in this gorgeous 50 metre pool year round saving the need for regional travel. This not an investment in a pool, but is an investment in our citizens, both young and old and in their health and well-being. It is high time this valued resource be given year round life for the people in our community and for our wonderful visitors. Thank you for reading.
