It won’t be long before the Swim Zone Matamata indoor pool can be enjoyed over the summer months - as an outdoor pool! 

All we need is some fine weather to complete the conversion.

The final step is to paint the pool, and preparation of the pool surface is nearly complete. All eyes are now on the long range weather forecast while we wait for four days of fine weather which is what the painters need to crack on with the job.

Fine weather is important because each layer needs to be left overnight to dry. The process involves the concrete primer going on first, followed by two coats of blue paint and finally the black detailing. Once the painting is complete it needs to be left for seven days to cure before it gets filled with water and opened to the community.

With school holidays looming we’re keen for people to be able to enjoy the additional outdoor pool. An update will be provided when it is ready to open.
