Plan Change 61 update

We are notifying this Plan Change next month for your feedback.

We’re changing the format and some of the content of our District Plan to line up with the Ministry for the Environment, National Planning Standards. The Standards aim to make council plans and policy statements easier to use and understand. There are also some other proposed amendments that will help to make our District Plan more effective.

Some of the proposed changes to the District Plan relate to zoning of reserves, information around consulting with mana whenua, increasing residential living opportunities in town centres, replacing 'dependant person dwellings' with 'minor residential units', increasing the space between the boundary and some buildings where animals are kept in the general rural and rural lifestyle zones, rezoning portions of our town centres and other proposed changes.

The Plan Change has been updated as a result of community feedback. We are looking to start the public notification of this plan change in early June 2025, where you will be able to view the updated version and provide your feedback. Please note, this is a little later than previously promoted. We will update mpdc.nz/planchange61 with the notification dates once confirmed.
