Community Volunteer Morning Tea

Volunteers are the glue that hold our communities together. They are the first to put their hands up when others are in need and when the country is in crisis, keep communities ticking along, looking amazing and help its people feel supported.

We are aware that there are so many individual volunteers who tirelessly go above and beyond and can sometimes go under the radar and without public acknowledgement, for this reason we decideded not to call for individual nominations for 2021 and run the risk of missing those that should be acknowledged, particularly after the community response to COVID-19.

Thank you once again for the contribution our volunteers within Matamata Piako make, we acknowlege and celebrate all your achievements, passion and hard work.  As part of Volunteer Awareness Week 2021, Mayor Ash and Councillors recently recognised volunteer groups hard work and dedication to our community at a special morning tea at the Matamata-Piako Civic and Memorial Centre in Matamata.
