Real Life Super Hero’s Day

Move over Spiderman, Wonder Woman and the Hulk… the REAL superheroes are coming to town!

Hauraki District Council is hosting a Real Life Super Hero Day on Sunday, 2 March 2025 from 10am to 2pm at Paeroa Domain. This free event, in partnership with our emergency management group and Thames-Coromandel District Council, is a chance for us to thank all the emergency services that support the community during times of crisis.

Come support and thank our real life Super Heroes from Fire and Emergency NZ, Hato Hone St Johns and NZ Police, along with other search and rescue and community groups. It’s also the perfect time to learn from the experts on how to prepare and plan for emergencies.

There’ll be free kai (food), live demonstrations, and lots of fun games to play with the whole whānau (family).

Wondering how you can stay prepared?

  • Make an emergency plan: Sit down with your whānau and create a plan for what to do in an emergency. Decide on a meeting spot, how to get in touch, and what to do if you can’t get home.
  • Get an emergency kit ready: Pack a bag with things you’ll need if you have to leave in a hurry. Include things like water, snacks, a torch, first aid supplies, and any medicines you take regularly. Keep it somewhere easy to grab, like near the door.
  • Stay informed: It’s important to keep up with local news, weather updates, and emergency warnings. You can follow MetService New Zealand, Civil Defence Waikato or download the Antenno app to keep up to date with the latest in our district.
