The foundations have been poured for the new roof at the Swim Zone Matamata leisure pool (the old indoor pool) and construction of the nib wall is underway. Once this is complete, the next key milestone will be the installation of the roof structure.

The leisure pool and spa remain closed while the roof construction takes place, but the lane pool is open with the water temperature increased to 30 degrees. We expect the leisure pool and spa to reopen before the end of the year.

The roof is a medium-term solution that will enable the Matamata community to continue to access an indoor pool and swimming lessons all year round while we take on the longer term challenge of planning for a new or upgraded complex that meets the future needs of the community.
