Policies Update
Recently, Council asked for your feedback on a number of policies and strategies including the Draft Local Alcohol Policy, Interim Speed Management Plan, Fees and Charges 2023/24, Solid Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw, and Policies on the Remission and Postponement of Rates.
We’d like to thank those who took the time to share their views on these documents – we received a total of 158 submissions across all of the topics.
Submissions were open from 14 March until 21 April 2023, followed by a hearing on 3 May. Council sought further information from staff, before debating and making decisions at their meeting on 24 May. Council considered all submissions and adopted the following documents:
- Provisional Local Alcohol Policy
- Interim Speed Management Plan
- Fees and Charges 2023/24
- Policies on the Remission and Postponement of Rates
These policies (apart from the Provisional Local Alcohol Policy) will become effective from 1 July.
Council decided to undertake further, targeted consultation on the draft Solid Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw. The timeline for this further consultation is still being confirmed. The current Solid Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw 2017 remains in place in the meantime.
