Te Aroha boat ramp revamp

Te Aroha’s boat ramp carpark on the eastern bank of the Waihou River is undergoing a revamp and the area will be temporarily closed to the public from Monday 25 July.

The revamp includes creating sealed car and boat trailer parking areas, improving the surrounding reserve area and adding an extra, longer bay by the dump station to accommodate motorhomes which are growing in size and popularity.

When finished, users will also be able to clearly see the Hauraki Rail Trail that runs through the carpark and have picnic facilities to enjoy next to the Waihou River.

The construction was originally expected to take approximately five weeks (completed early September), however, wet weather/flooding in the area has caused a number of delays. The works are now expected to continue to late September/early October.

Access to the dump station is currently closed, please see here for alternative locations. The skate park, water fountain and footbridge are still be accessible to the public.
