International spa experts visit Te Aroha
In mid July 2023 we hosted an international delegation of spa and wellness professionals from the United States, China, Japan, Australia and Europe. Te Aroha was the first stop in a two-week tour of spa facilities across New Zealand and Australia.
Arranged by the Te Aroha Spa Governance Group, made up of Mayor Adrienne Wilcock, Ngāti Tumutumu Trust representatives and industry experts, the visit gave us the opportunity to introduce Te Aroha and Te Aroha’s spa project to an international audience.
Guests experienced local and cultural activities, food and hospitality over two days. Local artist Adrian Worsley treated the guests to a tour of his studio before they headed to Tui Pā marae for a formal welcome and powhiri arranged by Ngāti Tumutumu Trust representatives.
At the Domain Pavillion Mayor Adrienne welcomed the delegation to the district and Norm Hill, co-chair of the Te Aroha Spa Governance Group on behalf of Ngāti Tumutumu, shared a presentation about the Te Aroha spa development concept. The group took a guided tour of the Domain and museum and experienced the mineral waters of Te Aroha Mineral Spas and No. 2 Bath House.
The group were farewelled with a powerful performance by Te Whare Kura O Te Rau Aroha the following day. We look forward to receiving feedback from the delegation once their tour is complete.
