Full description of idea:

Matamata is privileged to have large exotic trees in the urban area. The trees were planted with vision and foresight which we are now recognised nationally for.
Felling of trees that shape the very ethos of our community is short sighted and when the tree is gone it is gone!

How this idea will benefit the community:

Trees come with the expected leaf fall that lasts 6 weeks per annum. Council now have equipment suitable for managing the leaf fall and this is a small price to pay for a significant asset in our community.
The felling of trees to rid feral birds from our town will not work. The tree will be dead and the bird will find another tree to live in.
