Full description of idea:

Morrinsville to Auckland Return via Piako Road. PLEASE CAN WE HAVE MORE MARKER PEGS. (OR CATS EYE'S.)
Ken and I travel to Auckland fairly often to visit our children. We have always driven from Morrinsville through Ohinewai Road or SH27 to Auckland. We decided to take the Piako Road to Gordonton which takes us through to the Waikato Expressway.what a difference in time.

The only problem was coming home from Auckland in the dark, it was an amazing drive until we got onto Piako Road, we found Piako road very hard to follow, especially when it was raining, coming from Auckland, because the Waikato Expressway is so well lit up it goes from alot of lighting, right through to the turn off from Waikato Express way. Taupiri/Gordonton road was fine, but once we got onto Piako Road there was next to no lighting? I suggested to my grandson to come the same way a few days later as it is quicker from Auckland and he made the comment that the Piako Road was very dark, so, coming home from Auckland to Morrinsville last night in the dark and it was raining, I took particular notice of what the road was like, I was driving. It was dark and what I realised was there were hardly any marker pegs on the sides of the road, starting from Gordon Road right through to the end of Piako Road, close to Morrinsville. Its along distance to drive with next to no marker pegs. No lighting to show edge of the road. Where are they?The sides of Piako Road needs to be defined better otherwise it is dangerous, especially at night and in the rain. The thing is, Piako will probably become the main road to Auckland once travellers realise it is a much better drive to Auckland in the daytime.
. New and more Marker Pegs and Bigger and Clearer Morrinsville sign's on Gordonton Road with distances could be a biggy for getting more Aucklanders and tourists in Morrinsville.

How this idea will benefit the community:

If people knew how good that road is to travel on(apart from no marker pegs) I believe that we would get more people coming to Morrinsville instead of carrying onto Hamilton. If Aucklanders knew how good the road is along SHI to Taupiri/Gordonton turnoff, it is possible that Morrinsville could get more traveller or tourists through our town. Get it out to Aucklanders and up North what a great road it is to Morrinsville from Auckland and time and distance is shorter as well.
New and more Marker Pegs or cats eyes,on both sides of Piako road could I believe be brighter and more defined and would be a much better road to navigate. More signs on Gordonton Road coming up to Piako Road showing Morrinsville and distances.to Morrinsville. Since the Waikato Express way has been opened it is a good road to travel on. This could be a biggy for more travellers coming to Morrinsville.
