Temporary road closures
Studholme Street, Morrinsville, 28 April - 6 June 2025
Our contractors Odlum Group will be working to complete the next stage of the Studholme Street Watermain Upgrade, between Coronation Road and Anderson Street. This work is similar to the previous stage completed in August 2024, and will involve a road closure to carry out the work safely. There will be a full road closure on Studholme Street between Coronation road and Anderson street for 6 - 8 weeks.
Key dates and times
- Minor works begin: Monday, 14 April 2025
- Road closure starts: Monday, 28 April 2025
- Expected to reopen: Around Friday, 6 June 2025
- Work hours: 6.30am – 6.30pm, Monday to Friday (No weekend or night work planned at this stage)
What to expect
There will be construction equipment on the road and our contractors will guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through the area. The footpath on the western side of Studholme St will be closed – please use the footpath on the opposite side.
Kerbside collections
This won’t be affected – just put your bins out as usual and our team will make sure they’re collected.
Water shutdowns
As part of the upgrade, there will be temporary water shutdowns. We’ll provide advance notice to affected households via:

Access and detours
All residents will still have access to their properties.To reduce congestion at Coronation Rd and Anderson St, please exit via Page Street or Alamein Avenue if possible.
The GULL Gas Station is still open for business, please continue to support them. Access via Page St from Lorne St.

Roadworks
Morrinsville-Walton Road, 17 March 2025
Our contractors Graham Civil Contractors will be undertaking a sealed road pavement rehabilitation on Morrinsville-Walton Road. During this time, parts of Morrinsville Walton Road will be closed in stages from Monday 17 March - Wednesday 30 April 2025. Our contractor will use diggers, trucks, rollers, and other machinery for this project.
Detours
Please use an alternate route. Full traffic management and diversions will be in place for the duration of the closure, but access will be provided for residents, pedestrians and emergency services.
Proposed temporary road closure
Piakonui Road, Richmond Downs, Sunday 22 June 2025
We're proposing to close Piakonui Road — from 373 Piakonui Road to 1284 Piakonui Road — to regular traffic on Sunday, 22 June from 10am to 5pm, so the Thames Valley Car Club can run a rallysprint event.
Any person wishing to make a submission on the proposed closure should do so in writing, to Leanne Keenan, to reach the Matamata-Piako District Council Office at PO Box 266, Te Aroha, not later than midday on Thursday 15 May 2025.
