Horrell Road - Notice of Requirement

Matamata-Piako District Council had proposed to realign the Horrell Road intersection onto State Highway 26. This was intended to improve the safety and efficiency of the intersection and had been proposed in conjunction with Plan Change 47 to the District Plan. The Plan Change included the proposal to rezone of 76ha of land on the western side of Horrell Road from Rural to Rural-Residential.

Note: At its meeting on 13 December 2017, Council resolved to withdraw the Horrell Road Notice of Requirement and rezoning proposal. This means that the intersection will not be realigned, the proposed Horrell Road Rural-Residential rezoning will not proceed and the existing Rural zoning will remain.

The realignment was to move the existing intersection with State Highway 26 approximately 50 metres to the west. The site to which the requirement applied is the corner of Horrell Road and State Highway 26, Morrinsville with legal description Lot 1 DPS 35142 (SA31B/721).

Following a notice of direction from the Chair of the Hearing panel, the hearing of submissions for the Horrell Road Notice of Requirement and rezoning was, along with the proposed Kuranui Road rezoning, to be deferred until later in 2017. However, as above, the Notice of Requirement and proposed rezoning for Horrell Road have both been withdrawn.

Public Notice - to withdraw Horrell Road Notice of Requirement and rezoning

Direction - to defer the hearing of submissions for the Horrell Road Notice of Requirement and rezoning, and Kuranui Road rezoning.
