Council administers several grants to support groups and individuals in our community. Grants available include:
Community Support SchemeThe Community Support Scheme is managed by the local Community Boards, who are responsible for reviewing applications and allocating the funds. The scheme has funding available as a grant, a guarantee against loss, or as a loan.
Creative Communities FundingWe administer the Creative Communities Scheme that provides funding for arts and cultural projects in our district. The money comes from a national arts body, Creative New Zealand.
Resource Consent Funding for community GroupsWe have set aside $25,000 to assist non-profit community organisations to fund the costs of resource consent applications. Applications can be made at any time, with a maximum of $5000 to be granted to each community group per project.
Significant Natural Features FundingWe have a ‘Significant Natural Features Fund’ where landowners who have a significant site such as a wetland and/or native bush area can apply for rates remission and/or funding towards fencing the site and project costs.
Dr Lawrence & Elsie Mackie Memorial TrustsDr Lawrence and Elsie Mackie Memorial Trust grants are available to people from Te Aroha and the surrounding country areas (Elstow, Manawaru, Mangaiti, Ngarua, Springdale, Te Aroha West, Wairakau, Waihou and Waitoa). This funding is provided for 'charitable purposes', for both groups or individuals. |
