Roads allow interaction between people and the exchange of goods and services. They provide linkages for people to homes, community facilities, shops, business premises and places of employment, both locally and across the country.

 

MPDC Roads

Council aims to maintain and improve the district's roading network in a cost-effective way, so that it caters for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.

Within the District there are 993.3 kilometres of road (excluding State Highways) consisting of:

  • 935 kilometres of sealed roads
  • 59 kilometres of unsealed roads
  • 367 bridges

The total value of this network is $430 million. It costs nearly $12.5 million per year to maintain and improve the roading network.
