Remediation Works are underway at Tui Mine. There will be heavy vehicles using Tui Road. For walkers who continue to the top of the mountain, we advise returning down the same track; if walking down the road, please keep well to the side at all times.
Starting at the Mokena Geyser, this walk meanders through stunning native bush settings to the Whakapipi Lookout lookout and seat that offer spectacular views of Te Aroha, the Waihou River and the surrounding district. The energetic can continue another 200m to the top of the 'Bald Spur' and enjoy a rest at the seats there.
The adventurous can continue along the steep Department of Conservation track to the top of Mount Te Aroha (approx 2 hours from Bald Spur), which also joins various tramping tracks into the Kaimai-Mamuku Forest Park. Further information on these tramping tracks can be obtained from the Te Aroha i-Site.
