We kicked off 2022 by enlisting the help of industry experts to develop options for a new spa facility that will make Te Aroha stand apart from the rest. The focus this year is on developing the concept for a new spa, and the experts will work with us to create options, concept designs and estimated costings.

The concept development team have a huge amount of experience in the spa industry and believe that something very special could be created within the Domain. Surrounded by nature, they were impressed with the mountain setting, bush tracks, fabulous views across the district and scenery. They are looking at ways to minimise the impact of a new facility by treating our natural assets, like the whenua (or land) and mineral water, in a respectful, efficient and sustainable way.

They will also explore future proofing the development – by designing it in such a way that would mean the facility could expand as its popularity grows. The beauty of this approach is that the spa would be able to fund its own expansion as success allows, and from the start of the project we know what that expansion would look like.
