Waharoa highway resealing underway
NZ Transport Agency is underway with its long-awaited resealing project of State Highway 27 from Waharoa to Matamata, with resealing due to begin tomorrow. The project follows widening of the shoulder of the road in preparation for new barriers to be installed once the sealing is complete.
NZTA have advised us:
- Stop-go restrictions will be in place for the duration of this time
- Resealing work on the state highway will take up to six weeks
- The Pohlen Road rail crossing (between Waharoa Road and SH27) will be closed during the works to prevent disruption to the rail network. (Waharoa Road will not be affected by the works.)
"We are delighted that work is underway on this project," said Mayor Jan Barnes. "NZTA and Higgins Contractors are working hard to ensure that the road is sealed and fully open again in time for the holiday break." "This resealing project is the first of a number of projects to improve the state highways around Matamata over the coming months," said NZTA Transport Systems Manager Karen Boyt.
