It’s a jungle out there - and then there are the kids!

If you’re facing a summer holiday with constant refrains of "I’m bored - what can I do?" then help is at hand.

Registrations are open at the library for the Wild Kingdom Summer Reading programme, aimed at children 5-13 years old to encourage them to read over the holiday break.

The Wild Kingdom Summer Reading programme runs from 11 December until 22 January, with craft weeks and other activities running at all three libraries. Children need to complete at least four challenges to be invited to the finale party, where the guest will be children’s TV presenter Suzy Cato.

The party will be held at the Silver Fern Farms Events Centre at 10.30am on 26 January. Children who complete the most challenges and read for the highest number of days will go in the draw to receive an mBot educational robot kit.

The Wild Kingdom Summer Reading Programme is brought to you by Kiwanis and Matamata-Piako District Council.
