Two funding rounds for community grants now open
If your community group is looking for funding from Council, now is the time to apply. We currently have two funding rounds open for applications.
We allocate $30,000 ($10,000 per ward) every year in two funding rounds to help fund community projects, such as running an event, providing training or purchasing equipment. Non-commercial, not funded from central government and not-for-profit groups can apply for funding of up to $2,500 from the community grant scheme during each funding round.
Applications for community grants are open until 1 September. Successful applicants will be notified in early October and will be able to access the grant money later this year.
Long Term Plan Grants
Applications are also open for funding through the 2018-28 Long Term Plan. There is no specific amount or limit allocated for these grants, as all applications will be considered
for inclusion in the draft Long Term Plan budgets.
Long Term Plan grants are also for community projects but are open to everybody, not just the not-for-profit sector. Funding can be for a one off project (that exceeds the $2,500 limit for community grants), or ongoing operational funding over three years (2018-2020).
Applications are open now until 5pm on 2 October. Applicants will also have the opportunity to present their application to Council in person at a meeting on 18 October.
Decisions on funding will be made in December 2017, and finalised in June 2018 following consultation on the draft Long Term Plan. Successful applicants will be able to access the grant money from July 2018.
You can view the criteria for both grants and apply online or download an application form at mpdc.nz/grants.
