Ruben returns to talk road safety
Popular road safety advocate Ruben the Road Safety Bear will be making a return to Te Aroha this month to teach children up to about seven years old foundation road safety skills.
Ruben is the mascot for the Waikato Regional Council’s young road user safety programme and works with road safety coordinators to get the road safety message out to youngsters across the region.
Ruben will be delivering his road safety lessons in both English and Maori to Te Aroha Kindergarten and Elstow-Waihou, Te Aroha Primary and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary Schools in July.
To coincide with his visit, a Ruben-themed colouring competition will be held at Te Aroha and Morrinsville libraries with a chance for kids to win a Ruben backpack.
Ruben’s website (ruben.govt.nz) features his key safety messages, activities for children, as well as helpful links and information for teachers, parents and caregivers.
