Walkway between Eldonwood and Peakedale

There have been some issues with access between the Peakedale subdivision and Eldonwood at the new reserve created off Peakedale Drive.

Unlike general walkways throughout the town, which are solely in Council ownership, the easements over the walkway in Eldonwood restrict access to residents and their invited guests of Eldonwood. This means it can’t be used as a public walkway.

Creating walking and cycling links is a priority for Council, and we are planning to develop a shared pathway connecting the Peakedale subdivision to Station Road (via Stanley St and Rimu St) in the near future.

As this land will no longer be used for walking/cycling links, we’re keen to hear from the residents what you would like to see in this space.

You can provide your feedback below until 14 October 2021.

As part of the upgrade work we will also reinstate the wooden boundary fence between the Peakedale subdivision and Eldonwood.
